Involves polling network devices and the devices returning status Of application layer protocols for managing complex networks. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a set Teo frustatuschange and cpStatuschange traps are enabled. > snmpconfig -enable mibcapability -min_name HA-MIB -trap_name cpStatusChange > snmpconfig -enable mibcapability -mib_name HA-MIB -trap_name fruStatusChange > snmpconfig -set mibcapability -min_name HA=MIN -bitmask 1 Just to enable, you don't have to run into interactive mode, only thing you need is MIB name and trap name > snmptraps -send -trap_name cp-status-change-trap -ip_address 192.168.10.120 Since we already know the snmp server information, lets test it if snmp forwards the traps. To change the MIB capability, you the snmpconfig command View currently enabled trap on your switch. it is a database of monitored and managed information on a device. Get the IP address and the severity level. You have to pay attention to SNMP Trap recipient information. The setting command is interactive which mean, you will enter the value at the prompt. When an event occers and its severity level is equal to or below the set value, the snmp event traps are forwarded to the trap recipients, that is snmp servers.
BROCADE SAN SWITCH SHOW IP ADDRESS MAC
Though we have other Netgear switches, none of them have a mac address beginning 00:14:6C - this makes me wonder, is that sticker showing the correct mac address for the unit? To be fair though, the mac addresses I have are quite random - only two of them begin exactly the same.Snmpconfig command allow you to managge snmpv1/v3 agent configuration on SAN switch.Įvent trap level is mapped with event severity level. Factory resetting the device will help prove this. Can I resolve this without factory resetting the switch during down time? I can't rule out the fact that someone assigned it a static IP address in the past, but I certainly didn't.

I can't find this mac address in the arp cache of my own PC (using arp -a from cmd line) - I can't find this mac address anywhere in the address table of the main 48 port switch that the GS716T is connected to I can't see this mac address in the list of DHCP leases on our Windows server I know the GS716T is connected to our main switch and must be online, because it serves the HP iLO ports on our servers, and the HP iLO is online/accessible on all of our HP servers across the network! - I know the GS716T mac address is definitely 00:14:6C:C4:28:99 as it says so on the back of the device (see below) GS716T is definitely switched on and there is network activity For some reason I just can't find the GS716T in the list, and therefore can't access the management page to set it a static IP address. I've managed to work out the IP address of every other switch by looking at the list of DHCP leases (we use Windows server for DHCP on our network) and using powers of deduction - it's pretty obvious. so I want to reassign all of our switches a static IP address in the range that Spiceworks scans to form part of it's inventory (we don't scan our DHCP range as it's far too difficult to manage it all).

I want to get a better grip on all our switches and uptime etc. To the best of my knowledge, this switch has been left as factory defaults and would be obtaining an IP address via DHCP. This is really ridiculous, but we have a Netgear GS716T switch that I can't gain access to because I don't know it's LAN IP address.
